About Fr. James McTavish, FMVD

Fr. James McTavish, FMVD, MD, STL, is a Verbum Dei missionary, from Scotland. By profession he is a surgeon and met the Verbum Dei missionaries in Sydney, Australia during his specialization in pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgery. He entered religious life in 1999, spending his formation years in the Philippines and Rome, before being ordained to the priesthood in 2008. He completed a license in moral theology from the Accademia Alfonsiana (Redemptorist Higher Institute of Moral Theology in Rome) and an MA in bioethics at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, Rome. He combines his teaching ministry with an active apostolate, helping to form the laity in prayer and evangelization.
